1A8.  God’s commitment to the two original people, a man and a woman, Adam and Eve:
God was interacting with them in a direct and intimate relationship, making Himself known TO them

1A8(title)  God’s commitment to the two original people, a man and a woman, Adam and Eve

The first two people, a man and a woman, Adam and Eve, were made in God’s own image and likeness.  God demonstrated His commitment to them in various ways, as follows.

1A8(sub-title)  God was interacting with them in a direct and intimate relationship, making Himself known TO them

God was able express His own nature and make Himself known TO Adam and Eve by interacting with them in an intimate relationship.

Communication between them was direct and clearly understood Gen 1:28,29,30,  2:16-17.  God also arranged their circumstances and activities Gen 2:8,15,20,21-22.  They could learn about Him too from their surroundings Gen 2:9,19.  All of this gave them a deep understanding of Him and His intended roles for them.  They could then respond appropriately to Him as well as to each other.

However, it is important to note here that having this loving relationship between Himself and people was not in itself God’s primary purpose.  Instead it was intended to be His principal way of accomplishing that purpose.  This would be by expressing His own nature not only TO them but also THROUGH them.

These arrows indicate that God was committed to Adam and Eve, blessing them and making Himself known TO them by relating directly and intimately with them.  Because they were made in His image and likeness, their kinds of power, perfection and love were how God expressed His own nature THROUGH them.
